About Us

SCHS has operated non-profit since 1964

SCHS is the only open admission, full-service animal shelter in Sheboygan County.
No animal is ever turned away. SCHS is a safe, warm, caring environment with a loving, dedicated staff and volunteers. We provide care 24 hours a day. 7 days a week, 366 days a year for owner-surrendered and stray animals.

We offer comfort, care and adoption services for approximately 2,500 stray, lost, unwanted and abused animals every year. Our primary goal is to find a loving "forever" home for each of them.

Our organization is operated by a Board of Directors, Shelter Manager and staff of professional caregivers. SCHS offers veterinary care for animals in our care at our in-house clinic under the direction of a full-time veterinarian and vet tech.

No tax dollars support our shelter or services. Our funding comes from private and corporate donations, income from our services and programs, and fundraising events. About 10% of our operating costs come from dog and cat registration fees.

Our Mission

The mission of the Sheboygan county Humane Society is the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education.
